Trace starts Kindergarten!!

Trace is long ready for Kindergarten. He will be 6 soon and knows it and is ready to move on in life :) He's waited to go to Kayden's big school for 2 years now. He has walked there 100 times and knows where the bathrooms are, how to lock up his scooter or bike, where the meeting place is for the walking group all the things I totally freaked out about with Kayden. And I still freaked out about them with Trace. He got to pick his favorite lunch for the first day and chose mini corn dogs, carrots, and root beer! Gross, but at least he went to school full and happy. He is so proud and excited to go to school finally!

Here are a few of his friends lining up at the wall.

Brooks has been wearing a backpack for a week now, waiting for his school and his teacher. He's even asked me where his homework is :) They got to play on the playground for a few minutes together.

Mrs. Lawrence is Trace's teacher. We are very excited about her!

I thought it would be easier the second time around but it wasn't, just different. I didn't think I would cry or get the hole in my heart as I watched him walk away, but I totally did. I know he's ready, maybe it's me that isn't. But I am too. I'm ready for him to learn and gain confidence and figure things out and be proud of himself for all the many things he will learn this year. I'm ready for him to feel responsible and be with Kayden at the big school. I'm just not ready to see him grow up...

They had this cute sign that 'Hugs and kisses, say goodbye. Here is a tissue in case you cry.' Then the administration was out passing out tissues and chocolate hugs and kisses. It was
great. Here they are after read to scooter home in the heat. The very first thing out of Trace's mouth was "here are my crackers.' He was starving!!
So 2 kids at school now. Brooks and I came home, he fell asleep in my lap, I did some reading, folded some laundry, chatted with a friend and then it was time to pick them up. We did afternoon kindergarten which I don't really like, but they needed volunteers and the classes are a little smaller. They get to ride home together which again I don't really like but I can teach piano now to kids that get out early or go to other school and be done by the time they get home. So proud of my boys!! I love you Trace!!
