Stewart Falls Hike

We got the crazy idea on Labor Day to go hiking with 4 kids under 6. And I'm happy to report they did amazing. I was prepping myself to have to carry Kayden or Trace but nope, not even a complaint! They actually almost ran most of the way for some reason. We met my brother Landon, his wife Jess and daughter Zailey and headed out.

It was perfect weather for a hike. It even got a little bit cold at the end, okay a lot cold at the end but it was great hiking weather. It was gorgeous and there were a few trees here and there already bright red and orange. It made me want to go up again in about a month to see the changes that will happen. This is my favorite time of year! Bring on the cider and pumpkin cookies!

I had the great idea when we were at the falls for the girls to take the kiddos and go back the Sundance way and the daddies could go back the way we came and meet us with the cars. I thought it was mostly downhill....... I was wrong!!! So jess and I set out with the 3 youngest. About 5 minutes into it we 'happened' to meet a Bishop from our stake on the trail and he said "oh are you taking the dog down the ski lift?" Oh we didn't know there was a ski lift so Jess ran back to give Baxter to Landon. So we keep hiking and about 15 minutes later a cute college girl stops and says "oh are you hiking all the way? I think the ski lift closes at 6 and you've got over an hour hike left." Um panic so I ask what time it was and it was about 5:20. She so kindly said 'well I hope for your sake it doesn't close at 6.' Thanks a lotSo we kind of went into panic mode and tried to move as fast as we could, it got really quite steep and Jess had Zailey on her shoulders, I had Brooks in the backpack and Trace's hands were starting to freeze so I was trying to hold them and pull him along. We started going over all the survival things we had learned from reading Hunger Games and figured if we had to make it over night up that mountain we could!!!! NOT Anyway long story short we made it to the lift (it didn't close at 6) and had a great, very cold ride down the mountain.

We finished it up with 3 yummy Papa John's pizzas at Landon and Jess's house! thanks for a great labor day guys!
