I have a 6 year old!

The pics are all out of order but here we go. My little Kayden turned 6 last week! He was born 2 minutes after Father's Day and my family was in town that weekend so we got to have a family party for him on Sunday at 6. He was supposed to worry about making it a great day for his dad and papa until then, but it was kind of hard on him. On his actual birthday we asked him what he wanted for dinner. He said there was really nothing that I could make good enough so he picked mexican food which could not of made me happier! I could eat mexican food everyday so I love that my kids love it too! We headed to the local mexican restaurant and ate to our hearts content. This was his first introduction to fried ice cream,,,,,,,,,, and obviously he loved it.
Chips and salsa run through my veins. I'm thrilled that Kayden loves it too.

Father's day was the day after our Ragnar Race so we were exhausted. We waited a few days and then celebrated with friends. He picked a few good friends to come over for a pirate party! We started out by playing pin the X on the treasure chest. He made the map on a poster board all by himself and we had a lot of fun. He and Trace had also made smaller maps for each boy so we passed those out and headed outside. We had to go through some rocks and trees, up the big hill, through some one's backyard, to the park and back again before they each found a treasure chest in the back yard. Then we were all hot so we got out the water balloons and squirt guns!

Back up to Sunday now again, we had fun family party. He'd wanted this pirate costume from the bookstore for months and has worn it almost every day. Any guesses what we might be for Halloween?

He even got a store bought cake this year, ugh but such is life right now. He didn't seem to care at all.
I can't believe he's getting so big and grown up. He is a huge help (most of the time) and I'm trying to enjoy everyday before he's gone all day from me for 1st grade. We were so blessed to have great family here, a friend party, and it felt lke a whole week of birthday celebration. We even started a new tradition of birthday fairy. He was having a hard time going to bed the night before so out of nowhere I said the birthday fairy wouldn't come until he fell asleep. So now we have a birthday fairy that leaves them something special to wake up to in the morning. This year the fairy filled his room with balloons.
