Thanksgiving Adventure

Every few years my family loves to go to Pagosa Springs, Co. It's about 1 hour past Durango and we love it. It's quiet, pretty, has a great pool and sports facilities. We get 2 or 3 condo's with our timeshare and play games, eat, watch movies, and laugh til we cry. We were all there except for one bro and his wife in AZ and we really missed them.

This year was no different....once we arrived. We left about 8pm Tuesday night and drove into what felt like the jaws of #&;(@. Seriously. This is usually a nice 7 hour drive. We didn't pull in until 9:30 am, the next day! It took us 3 hours just to get through Price Canyon. I've never seen snow like this before. We had chains on all 4 tires and it felt like we driving on the rumble strips for 3 hours. It was so loud and obnoxious the kids were going crazy by the time we were out of the canyon and took the chains off. Turns out that wasn't even the worst part of the trip! We hit some clear roads until just before Moab and then the skies really opened up. We were driving in 4 to 5 inches of snow, making our own tracks. The wind was swirling everything so crazy we couldn't really tell where we were moving and the only thing keeping us on the roads were the side pole marker things. Anyway it took us about 3 hours to get to Montecillo from Moab which is usually less than an hour. We were mentally and emotionally and physically exhausted but Chris bought some Dr Pepper and we kept going. When we finally got there I wanted to cry. I was just so relieved we got there safe and sound and so overwhelmed with the miracle it really was.

Chris and I took a few hour nap then the party started!

My mom and dad thought of dozens of things to do for the kids. Really they had a whole box of activities. Our last day there they sent all the grandkids on a scavenger hunt around the little complex. We went to the Rec Center, the store, and back to our condo. They loved it!!

Thanks Ropers for a Perfect Holiday!!
