Harvest Time

What do you get when you have a LOT of fresh basil from your garden (and some from your neighbors garden too)....

mixed with these.....
and some roasted pine nuts....?

A lot of fresh, homemade pesto!! My sis and I spent an evening making this and yummy! We've used it on chicken, homemade pizza, and a salad is next. Super easy and we smelled like sweet basil for days!

We had a bunch of great tomatoes this year so for the first time I made a bunch of homemade spaghetti sauce. No recipe needed, just threw a bunch of spices in and let them slowly bake for awhile. It was a huge success!

We got a 25 pound box of pears from Bountiful Baskets and .....sit down for this one.....I learned how to can! Yep my younger sis and her hubby came out for the first round to hold my hand, then I did the next batch all by myself. I was so proud and surprised how easy it was. They look so pretty on the shelf downstairs!

Yum! I did canning for the first time this year too, and I'm kind of hooked! Was the basil hard to grow? I would love to make some pesto. I'd love your recipie.
