10k??

Contrary to what this blog is looking like our family has been up to more than me running-but for now this is what you get. Yesterday I ran the Wasatch Woman 10k race at Thanksgiving Point. It was beautiful. The family dropped me off at 8 am in a very cold 50 degree morning then headed home for breakfast. There were almost 2000 women that did the 10k or 6k so it was pretty busy. We started up by the barn and ran around the offices up there, then down to the golf course and all around the amazing gardens. I've never been to that part of the gardens and it was so beautiful. The gravel and cobblestone weren't so fun to run on but the scenery made up for it. We even went back behind the waterfall and all through the amphitheater. The we ran back up to where we started.
I had set a goal to finish under an hour. I checked my watch at 58 minutes and was still quite a distance from finishing. I was pretty ticked and confused cause I had felt like I had a really strong, good run so I kicked it up a notch and finished the last mile in 8 minutes. I came across the finish line at 1 hour 7 minutes and honestly was ticked. I had felt really good the whole race, even through the horrible hills and uneven surfaces I thought I had stayed on pace. I don't know why but I got all emotional about it and was crying-big baby. I had a lady come over and ask if I was ok. She happened to be the organizer of the race so I told her that I was just super mad cause my time had been way off. She said 'oh, I'm so sorry. We mismarked the course and the first 100 or so runners went an extra 1.1 miles.' Ha! What!! I was so excited to know that it wasn't me, and even more excited that I had run 7.34 miles and felt great.....The family was there to support me at the finish line and they had a bunch of booths and bounce castles set up for the kiddos. We hung out for about an hour and enjoyed relaxing together.
I think I'm gonna run the Provo Half Marathon at the end of the month, I think......
