There must be harps in heaven

This weekend I headed down to Albuquerque for my baby sisters Senior Harp Concerto. More on that in a minute...... So we've all been planning on this weekend for like 4+ months. We decided that Brooks and I would fly down and Chris and the boys would stay cause we had just been gone for 3 days on Trek and we couldn't all afford to fly and it's a lot of driving. Anyway, so I had a ticket to leave Friday night at 8pm. About 5 Chris says 'Well what are we supposed to do all weekend? What if I got in the car and met you there?' I was NOT excited about this because of the driving all night (600 miles) and the late notice. A few minutes later my bro Jordan who is going to BYU Idaho called and said he had missed his flight from Idaho Falls to Alb. So the wheels started to spin and long story short, on the way to taking me to the airport he and Chris made plans for him to keep driving to SLC and Chris and he would drive all night (10:30pm friday night to 8:00am saturday morning) with the boys. I wrote the packing list on a receipt, they dropped me off at the airport, came home and packed and hopped in the car. Only a few of us knew about it so everyone else was pretty surprised to wake up to Jordan, Chris and the 2 boys Saturday morning.
It was wonderful food, weather, and fun. Brooks got the giggles with uncle Landon in the backyard.
We all know they LOVE to wrestle and luckily so do their aunts!

This was about 10pm and we really needed a treat so we did Smores over the stove! It was great!!

There are so many people to play with at Nana and Papa's!!

Brooks also tried his first coconut popsicle!
Now on to the concert. Beth is a member of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony http://www.aysmusic.org/. She is the only harpest and pretty much the best her age. She has been playing for like 10 years. She plays for weddings and special events all over the city. She is wonderful! She has worked on this piece for over a year and had to audition last May to win the Concerto spot for the concert. I don't know much about the harp, but it's really cool to watch her fingers and feet fly on the strings and pedals. I was SO nervous for her. The concert was held in Pope Joy Hall (similar to Hale Center I guess). We had over 50 people come to hear and support her and we all errupted in a teary standing ovation when she was finished! We love Sista Pictas! And she got lots of flowers, dozens of pink roses (a few from cute boys too!)

Here's the crowd, everyone made it down besides my bro Josh and wife Jen, and Landon's wife Jess. My aunt and uncle and G&G were there from Id as well.

You'll need to turn your volume way up but here is just the first minute or so of her piece. It was lovely. There's normally almost 100 members of the symphony but they cut it down to just over 20 so we could hear her better. She did a wonderful job!

Even though I had nothing to do with it, I was SO SO proud of her. She inspired me to work on myself and accomplish something great.

Then, we got in the car Monday and d-r-o-v-e for 12 long hours! But we're all safe and happy and grateful to have been there for her special day. We love you Beth!
