First day of School! First day of School! First day of School!

We decided that each year on the first day of school, dad would stay home late from work and cook the kids a big nice breakfast then we'd all go to school together. I thought it was great making it a family outing, and I needed the emotional support. Kayden was thrilled, and could not wait to go to school. He picked pancakes for his special breakfast. This is his preschool picture last year. He may not look too much bigger but the baby face is slowly disappearing, so sad. I honestly don't think Trace is too sad, having the house to himself for a few hours a day seems just fine with him so far.
He walked right to his desk and starting 'working' right away. I welled up when it was time to leave and felt bad cause he could tell I was sad so he started acting all teary eyed. I quickly got control and told him how proud I was of him and to remember everything he's learned and how to act on the playground and to pray if he got sad and on and on, and then realized, this is what it feels like to watch your heart walk around outside of you. I was so happy that he was so excited for this new adventure, but so worried that he would feel sad or lonely or be picked on or pick on someone and I wouldn't be there to help. This is kindergarten people! I know I need help.
The smile says it all, the first day was a huge success!! He told me there was a mean boy on the playground that pushed him over and he just walked away and then he got a good feeling inside cause he knew he had done the right thing by not starting a fight. Sigh......he said he only had to pray 2 times when he started feeling lonely and then he felt just fine afterwards when the Spirit came into his heart. I don't know where he comes up with the stuff, but I'm sure glad he knows it!

Cute, cute. You are not alone with your feelings and concerns about Kindergarten. It will be okay and it definitely gets easier with time. He'll do great because he's your child. It's no mystery where he gets it.
