My new favorite thing

For the past 2 1/2 weeks my hubby has been working his tail off fixing up our house. We've talked about doing some remodeling for quite awhile but just never acted on it. Basically about a month ago I mentioned to him that if he had planned on doing any of the remodel job it should be pre-baby cause I didn't want to go through all the mess with a newborn, to which he replied 'No problem, we've got tons of time.' To which I replied 'Actually we have about 9 weeks honey.' 2 weeks later he got to work! The boys and I moved downstairs for he 2 1/2 week project and did pretty good. There are beds for all of us, a full bathroom, and I set up the toaster oven in the laundry room for meals. We all got a little tired of hot pockets and french bread pizzas, but it was well worth it!! We're still putting a few things together but here's a little taste of his talent.....

Master bedroom BEFORE

AFTER

I've never loved my bedroom. We've painted and decorated the kids rooms really cute but I've never done too much with mine, including rarely making the bed, ooooooops. Of course I've watched a few Oprah home make overs where she says your room should reflect your style and who you are, I finally feel like it's mine! I love to sit in bed now and read, well mostly look around but I do get some reading done.
We started by re-texturing the horrible, cheap orange peal walls in our room, hallway, living room, family room, kitchen and down the stairs. Then came A LOT of woodwork. He redid all the trim, added trim around all the windows and doors, built a mantelpiece around the fireplace, yes built one! I couldn't find one I loved and the ones I was okay with were over $300 so one day I emailed him 2 pictures of my favorite ones. He bought the wood for about $70 and custom built it! More pics to come, and THANK YOU HONEY!!!!!
