A Shameless Plug

If you have never been to the Festival of Trees you are really missing out. We have been every year for 4 years now. 2 years ago my mom was in town and came with us and we were so inspired by the generosity and talent of so many people we signed up to do a tree. It took me 2 years to get my act together and actually do it, and I'm hooked! I've been shopping the after Christmas sales the past 2 years and we had enough stuff to put together. We figured since we're all from New Mexico we'd do a southwestern tree. It's entitled Sunny Southwest. So I'm not THAT talented to do a full size, but this little 3 footer did us nicely. We bought a pre-lit tree last year after Christmas and that was a very smart move. Everything has to be wired/glued so it can be easily transported and so the pre-lit tree was very cool to work with. We had dream catchers, chili's, rugs, a storyteller, a gecko, a little adobe village. It came together really nicely. And it's the ONLY one of it's kind which is pretty cool too.

My sista's came up and we made an evening out of it, hitting Cafe Rio afterwards. It was great, and I'm already thinking of fun themes for next year.
It's at the South Town Expo Center in Sandy this weekend. It's a wonderful family event, tickets or only $5 or so and I think there is a family discount. We walked over and saw Sadie's amazing tree! I lost it and wanted to hug her sweet picture. The whole place is just filled with such love and hope for PCMC and all the good that they do. I would recommend you make it a family outing-and try the cinnamon scones, yummy!!

That's so awesome you did a tree! I love the Festival of Trees - I've gone every year since I was in YW and one of the girls in our ward lost her battle to leukemia - we helped do a tree in her name for several years. My aunt was the festival chair one year & I think is still on the committee - I'll keep an eye out for your tree this year!
