What a weekend

So Saturday was our 8th wedding anniversary. It started with Chris making a wonderful breakfast for all of us then rushing off to Kayden's T-ball game. We came home and I hit the treadmill (seriously why is it so easy to gain all the weight but so stinkin hard to get it off!) and the boys quickly got bored. Chris mentioned the bike park and they were sold. I insisted on helmets, long sleeve shirts, knee and elbow pads and its a good thing. Over an hour later I called to make sure they were all alive and they were having a ball. They came home a little beat up and very sweaty.

This is 2 days later. Kayden tried to 'pop a wheelie' and didn't land it. He didn't complain once about the hamburger cheek, chin, or road rash all down the left side of his chest and belly. His only complaint is that he didn't land it. They've asked dozens of times when they can go back and keep trying. Keep in mind Kayden has been off of training wheels for about 3 weeks. Can you see motocross in his future?

They came home, freshened up then we headed to lunch and a movie. We saw Night at the Museum 2 and loved it. Trace was a little scared on some parts but it was a fun family flick. We got home, did Saturday baths, a snack and were ready for bed when Trace looked at me like this..............

He had gotten a little soap in his eye during the bath but I didn't think too much about it. It really started bugging him so I put some saline on it. My brother had come out with his 3 wee dogs and Trace had been playing with them and rubbing his eyes. Between all of this I wasn't sure what it was but knew it wasn't good. This picture is nothing, it's right in the beginning of the reaction. Within about 5 minutes his eye looked like it was blistering, his eyeball that is. It turned this translucent color and was all bubbly. He was screaming and I was freaking out so we gave him some benadryl and called all the urgent cares around-of course they were all closed. We put some ice on it and after 45 minutes it hadn't gotten any better so we headed to the ER. 3 hours later we left with nothing, just keep him on the benadryl. It was soooooo disgusting when they were checking it and they had to put numbing drops in it to even be able to open it and look cause he was freaking out so bad, which made it all yellow and freaky looking. there were 2 nurses and me and Chris holding him down, plus the doc trying to see what was going on. Poor guy. We got home about midnight and of course Brooks was way off schedule now and wanted to play. He sat in his carseat the whole time at the ER and just looked around. Didn't even cry with Trace was freaking out-what an angel! It looked 10 times better in the morning. Sunday I spent most of the day in meetings, bringing either Brooks or Kayden with me. So not really a typical anniversary but a very busy weekend nonetheless. And happy to say we are all happy and healthy this morning!

Happy anniversary!

Holy cow, that would totally freak me out to have a bubbling eyeball. Gross. I'm glad he's okay!

And your boys are such daredevils, they've definitely got some kind of extreme sporting in their future! Good luck with that!

Happy Anniversary.

Sorry that Trace was miserable and that you guys had to deal with that. It's so sad to see your little one freaking out, hurting and scared. I'm glad he's better.

I'm so glad you are so chill about the fact that your boys are into extreme activities. It's a challenge to be the mother of boys, to sit and smile when you really want to scream and tell them to be careful.

Oh that is awful about Trace's eyes. I hate it when I go to the doctor and they don't do a thing. Poor guy.
