We have never taken our kiddos down to see the lights at Temple Square, so we figured we'd wait until the coldest day of the year and went last Saturday. Wow! It was freezing but still fun. The boys loved all the cool 'activity scenes' displayed around the grounds, and it was a constant battle to keep them out of the snow.

We went with my sister Shan and her hubby Jed, sister Bre and brother Landon.

They were so excited to see the Christus. We had watched Joy to the World a few days earlier and they couldn't take their eyes off of it, for about 5 minutes at least, it was really sweet.
Then we headed to Shan and Jed's house where there was a good 3-4 inches of snow. It was after 8 pm but I don't think kids this age feel cold because they had a blast. We made snow angels and just ran around until I had to beg them to come in. We had yummy warm soup, treats, watched Elf and a Roper tradition..........
Gingerbread houses. I got this kit at Costco for $10 and it was awesome! It's the only one that has actually stayed up pretty easy and it smelled really good too.

Temple Square is definitely on our list for this year. I'm ashamed to say we haven't taken Elijah yet. And $10 for a gingerbread house kit? I think I need to take a trip to Costco...
Brrr! Looks like fun!
I love that house kit and, yes, it did smell surprisingly good.
