I've never been to Texas, so sad. So when my sister Shan said she had a conference in San Antonio and the company would pick up a few nights of the room, taxi's etc I jumped on board! I even had a free Southwest ticket so I got to use all my money on shopping and eating, and boy did I! We left Saturday morning and got back Wednesday afternoon. It was a lot of fun, relaxing and I may have gotten ahead on my sleep, if you can do that.
Here we are in the Vegas airport. We just barely made our connection flight as I had to pull Shan away from the slots. JK
We stayed right on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Tons and Tons of shopping and more restaurants than I've ever seen were all right there within walking distance. Even a movie theater, the Alamo, and the conference center.
Our first meal was Mexican, actually I think almost every other meal was Mexican, I was in heaven!

After a long afternoon of shopping we hit Brookstone, I think twice and sat in these wonderful massage chairs. We had to pull Shan out of it.
Sunday we got up and took a taxi to church. What an experience. The church webpage had been wrong so we caught the last 10 minutes of RS is all. But these women were so welcoming and excited to have us there. Then a member of the Bishopric had two priests bless the sacrament for us. They were so respectful and reverent it was a wonderful experience. They even found us a ride back so we didn't have to pay for another taxi!

We had them drop us off at the Alamo where we spent Sunday afternoon learning about the history of the area.
We found a charming little Tex-Mex Cafe on the Riverwalk for lunch.
This was so good! They brought this cart out to your table and made fresh guacamole right there. They put a squeeze of lime, orange and then the avacado. Then they mixed onions, roasted peppers and fresh cilantro into it. YUMMY!!!
Each meal we would say 'I'll never finish this.' And I think without fail we did! Good thing I had on stretchy pants.
We had dessert almost every night, wow!
Shan would fluff my pillow every night, now that's living the high life!

We played cards a few times and I got beat, ouch.

Thanks for a wonderful, much needed vacation! And thank you hubby for doing an amazing job taking care of the boys while I was gone. How many men can do that for 5 days!!

Ooh, I'm officially jealous. Texas, fresh guacamole and Mexican food galore, and no kids for five days? Sign me up!
That sounds like such a blast. Totally jealous. The guac sounds so delicious. I've never been to Texas either, but San Antonio is where I would love to go.
Glad to hear that you had a fun time. Thanks for the vanilla I'm anxious to cook with it. Aaron loves the t-shirt and wore it the first day!
There isn't one serious picture of me! People must think I'm the biggets goof!
Love the pics! And hello to Shan and Sis. Roper, wherever you are ;). I once had a biz trip in San Antonio and I stayed in the little old hotel right next to the Alamo. Good times, good times. I do love that Riverwalk.
