Bear Lake and back again

Chris grew up going to Bear Lake. I'd been 2-3 times but we hadn't been in over 5 years so we figured this was the year! We booked a great campsite on Rendezvous Beach for Friday through Monday and looked forward to it all summer. Our friends Bart and Kimberly and their 2 girls from SLC met us there, as well as my sister Shan and hubby Jed, sister Bre and her BFF Ashton and my brother Landon. It was a ton of fun!
Friday we got there a few hours before everyone and enjoyed some family sand time.

This is where we hung out all day Saturday. It was a beautiful day.

We rented a jet ski for 8 hours and had a blast. I love jet skis, more than boats or any other water activity I love to jet ski. And turns out so do our boys. They each took a turn driving and would totally goose it! Kayden is still asking when we can have another day on 'the machine that goes a million miles an hour.' He loved it of course and spent quite a few hours out on the water with his dad and uncles, and a few trips on the tube as well.
Jed, Bre, Shan and goofball Landon.
Trace loved uncle Jed pulling him around on the tube when it wasn't hooked up to the jet ski.

The pic below is Trace out in the water flying a kite. Bear Lake usually has a good breeze so it was perfect for flying kites. And I love the beach because it stays shallow (like below hip height for my boys) for like 100 feet so they have lots of space to play in the water.

We were all pretty tired after a day on the beach and in the sun. We feasted on wonderful dutch oven meals and BBQ, and of course a TON of snacks and treats. We went into Garden City Saturday night and enjoyed famous raspberry shakes! Yummy!!

Sunday we rode bikes, flew kites, played some baseball, took naps, took a drive around the East side of the Lake, and just visitted and enjoyed the outdoors.

AND THEN.............

the wind started to blow, so Bart looked on his phone and saw the weather report was thundershowers that evening through Monday, and the high for Monday was going to be 58 degrees. This should have been our first clue but we were having so much fun and didn't want to leave! We tried to rig up a tarp over our tables and fire, that lasted about 15 seconds once the wind kicked up. We moved over to a big group pavalion, that lasted about 5 minutes once the rain started-coming down sideways! After about 15 minutes we looked out and saw................That our tents were blowing away, and were also in what now looked like a lake. There was water everywhere. So we quickly made the decision to pack up instead of braving out possibly another 12 hours of rain plus very cold weather. It wasn't fun packing up in the rain, nor was it fun driving home in the horrible storm, nor was it fun spending Monday resetting everything up in the backyard to clean off the mud and dry it out when we should have been on the beach! But, I'd do it again because being there with my family and friends was a ton of fun, and we hope to do it again next year... minus the rain.

Finally headed home~

That sounds way fun, even if it rained the last day!

Wow sounds like an adventure. It's amazing how fast the weather can change! One minute it is summer and the next fall/winter. Glad you had a good time.

Looks like a blast. You know, until the rain.

Sounds like a fun trip! I was wondering why you had tents set up and sleeping bags and blankets all over your yard yesterday! Jim was right - he said it looked like you were drying it all out. :)

Wow Jamie. That looks like a great trip. Even with the rain - the time spent looks well worth it!

Looks like fun, I felt so sorry for those who camped the weekend. I would have crawled home and died! You are a brave brave soul!
