Camping, Again

Well we had so much fun last weekend camping we decided to go again! Sorry for the 50pics, it was just so fun and pretty up there! This time we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon and stayed at the Spruces from Thursday afternoon to Saturday afternoon. We stayed with our great friends Bart, Kimberly, Abigail, and Annalynn Robison from SLC. We were in the same 'newlywed or nearly dead' ward with Bart and Kimberly years ago and have remained in contact and love their friendship. They picked out a wonderful camp site with tons of shade, and fun little tree stumps for the kids to sit and play on.

This camping trip was so fun. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, went 'fishing' (spent more time keeping the kids out of the water and the plastic fish out of the trees), ate heavenly dutch oven meals (BBQ chicken and potatoes, peach cobbler one night, BBQ ribs and cornbread and corn the next night, mountainman breakfast and cinnamon pull apart bread for breakfast -WOW), went on treasure hunts, sang songs, watched a movie (okay after 2 days in the dirt we needed an hour break so we plopped the kids in front of Toy Story and we watched The Office), of course Smores, watched the squirrels try to get under our table and eat all the food the kids had dropped, we put the kids to bed early one night and had banana boats (uummmmmmmmmmm), rode lots of bikes, sent the boys on their first snipe hunt, colored, and for the first time in 6 months I sat down and read a book for about a half hour!

My boys love, love, love to be outside. Trace is so content to wonder around and look up in the trees, sit in the dirt and just be. He is such a sweetie. He was so tired each night he'd ask to go to bed, walk himself to the tent and snuggle right down into his sleeping bag. He slept until 9 am Saturday morning! He cried when we left. Kayden of course likes a little more adventure and loved the huge hill for his bike, and being able to cast on his fishing pole for hours, which left us fishing the plastic fish out of the trees but was still fun. I didn't like the fact at all the he was a part of the fire making festivities, but he loved it and hopefull we scared him well enough to keep him safe around them. We're already looking forward to our next camping trip to Bear Lake next month!

We love the Spruces campground! One of the best around in my opinion. We haven't been camping enough this summer (last summer was almost every weekend) but it'll pick back up once we are settled in our house - we should go together sometime!
